A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.
I actually live and work in Melbourne. It's a great place with plenty to do for all age groups. I stayed the night in a Hotel because I was going to the theatre with friends and didn't want to travel home afterwards. It was a nice way to spoil myself and have a lazy morning resting at the end of a long working week.

The apartment is privately owned so the desk doesn’t have access to the room so when I lock my key inside the room on a Saturday evening I made contact with the owner through the emails I had received with instructions on our arrival, and was totally surprised & appreciative of the prompt response in a reply email & a 30 minute wait for the host to drive into the City & open the room for us, done with cheer & total understanding.👍😑

We had a large clean room with two queen beds. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linen was beautiful.
We were only there for a few hours, to sleep between flights, but it was very comfortable with lots of room to open our cases.
I would definitely book again.

I live about 300kms from Melbourne, in East Gippsland.
I live about 300kms from Melbourne, in East Gippsland. I very rarely visit Melbourne, but when I do I find it an easy city to find my way around.
There is a wide variety of places to stay, places to see and places to eat at; all tastes are catered for!
Traffic can be a problem at certain times of the day, especially lately with a lot of heavy-duty upgrades to road and rail links ongoing, but public transport is pretty good, on the whole.
Places I definitely like to visit when in town would be Melbourne Zoo, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Melbourne Museum, the Immigration Museum and the Botanic Gardens. There are also many beautiful public parks in Melbourne, too many to mention.
If you are prepared to drive a little way, the Dandenong Ranges are just on the edge of the city, with their numerous attractions. Going the other way, there would be Point Cook RAAF base, with the Aviation Museum.
All in all something for everyone- shops, food, views, the lot.

Sooo many traffic lights if you're driving!
Sooo many traffic lights if you're driving! Melbourne city is great for walking around and the free public transport in the CBD make it easy to get around if you get a little tired. Melbourne has wonderful gardens to stroll through and a great range of shops from the high end boutiques to the quirky little shops in the arcades.

Do your research as to what is on.
Do your research as to what is on. Which restaurant you would like to try. Have your tickets booked for the theatre, exhibition and always check what is featuring at Lume. Get your Miki so that you can travel easily on public transport.
The location is perfect. Situated in the heart of the CBD. Tram stop out at the front door which makes it easy to get around the city. The rooms are quiet generous in size. Blossom’s Roof top bar make delicious pizza’s which go down well with a cocktail and the staff are very helpful. We travel to Melbourne every year to watch footy and have stayed at a lot of different hotels. There is lots of walking involved to get to them. I think we have found the perfect location. This is our second stay here and I know we will return again.
Best base from which to explore Melbourne. Apartments are huge and have balconies with expansive views over Flagstaff Gardens and the city skyline. In so many other CBD hotels you just feel boxed in. Love being able to walk 10 mins for a breakfast with the locals in North Melbourne, or, walk 10 mins to Hardware Lane to catch a bus that will have you in Lygon St, Carlton, or the top of Smith and Brunswick streets in Collingwood/Fitzroy in under 20
mins. This is what Melbourne is all about: discoveries around every corner!
The Veriu Collingwood is in a fantastic location to explore the urban chic of Fitzroy in Melbourne. It is near tram lines to access the CBD also. Despite being an a main road our room was quiet. I really liked the layout of 2 x mini apartments with a shared entry as I was travelling with my mother, so it provided personal space but also togetherness. I love having mini kitchen's when I travel as I am a healthy eater, however the apartments are super close to excellent eateries, bakeries and coffee galore!
This place is super-convenient to get to, being literally just over the road from Southern Cross train station and the Skybus terminus (to and from the airport), and on the edge of the CBD. Walking distance to multiple city highlights. The hotel itself is a charming historic building retaining an Art Deco vibe both inside and out. King room fairly standard features for this price range but the bed was particularly comfortable which is the highest priority for us.
Great rooms, self contained, ample size for one in the Studio which I had and nice city outlook if high enough. Cannot fault the staff (thank you Arun and team) and the great location right by Sth Yarra station. I booked a rollaway bed for the last 2 nights when a friend stayed, and it was all set up and comfortable, no problem. I booked this because my go to hotel in the CBD was booked, but now I have another that I would reuse when back in Melbourne.
Wow, this place was definitely better than we expected. Located right in the center (CBD) of Melbourne, this aparthotel tower offers very nice rooms with a kitchenette and all amenities that you would need including a bathing amenities, cutlery, cleaning supplies, etc. This hotel also offers a pool, a sauna, and luggage storage.
The room itself is modern, spacious, and, depending on the floor you stay, will have a nice view.
Location is excellent, it's a short walk to the tram stop that takes you straight into the CBD in about 15 mins. The hotel is about a 20-25 min taxi ride from the airport. It's so handy that there's a Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse and a few cafes in the same building as the hotel, literally downstairs. Rooms are very new and therefore clean, and the bathroom in particular felt nice and spacious.
Quincy is a modern, boutique-style hotel, with a funky atmosphere. The rooms are nicely decorated. I loved the pink tiles in my bathroom and the potent shower. The hotel had a heated lap pool on the top floor. The place was conveniently located in the CBD close to all the amenities. The restaurant had a fancy Asian fusion-style type of food. Everything was reasonably priced.
Great location for walking in all directions around Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Vic Markets and Southern Cross Station. Very clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the attached apartments building rather than the hotel so it was a bit more like an air b'n'b experience. The apartment was small but felt spacious, it was clean and comfortable for four adults.
This place was amazing - great view from the city view room. Reception was open most of the time. We liked that it wasn't in the heart of the CBD as we enjoyed the walk around Southbank and discovering some of the eateries and cafes. Would definitely come back here for a special trip in Melbourne.
Great location. About 30 mins from airport. Close to DFO, Casino, Melbourne CBD. Have stayed in this penthouse apartment before with groups of friends because of size and location. 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and two single beds in lounge area. Very comfortable beds and awesome city views.
Location! The hotel is in the CBD and free tram zone, a quick ride or walk to entertainment and tourist attractions. Yet it is an escape on a quiet street and overlooks the one-story Queen Victoria Market.
Rooms! are well designed and very clean.
We stayed at the Westin so we could see a show in town. Very convenient location. Excellent service from everyone at the hotel, from the minute we arrived to the minute of our departure.
I will never stay anywhere else in Melbourne CBD.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely gardens. Apartments are very nice! Across the road from Melbourne Museum and Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens. nice walk or tram ride to CBD.
Amazing hotel in the CBD of melbourne. Short walk to everything including malls, Southbank, DFO. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was amazing, great views, very spacious and comfy bed.
